Sustainability standards and certifications

Our ISO 50001 certification confirms that we implement and apply an energy management system within our company. The uvex group uses an established energy management system to improve its energy footprint and reduce CO₂ emissions. This standard also requires uvex to demonstrate – from the very first audit – that the company is continually improving its energy efficiency performance.

ISO 14001 defines requirements for environmental management systems, which are implemented to improve a company's environmental performance. By implementing this standard, uvex is adopting a systematic approach to its environmental responsibilities and contributing to the ecological pillar of sustainability. The definition of environmental objectives and measures – along with the implementation, monitoring and improvement of these measures – are central elements of this standard.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard that sets out the minimum requirements for quality management systems, with a focus on optimising processes and quality. This process-orientated approach serves as an excellent starting point for sustainable development within the uvex safety group. EcoVadis is a provider of sustainability ratings for companies. More than 95,000 businesses worldwide use the platform, which evaluates performance across 21 indicators in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis awards medals in four levels – Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.​

uvex has achieved a double success in the latest EcoVadis assessment:​

1. The Italian production site Uvex Cagi was awarded the EcoVadis Platinum Medal. With a score of 84 points, it ranks among the top 1% of companies assessed worldwide. Particularly noteworthy is the high rating in the environmental category, which highlights the effectiveness of our sustainability management – including measures such as the use of heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and regranulation.
2. The uvex safety group also achieved a strong result: With 78 points, it received the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing it among the top 5% of all rated companies. This recognition underscores our company-wide commitment to sustainability.​

The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct aims to ensure that all fundamental social standards are met throughout the manufacturing chain. On signing the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct, companies commit to the principles set out in the code and to meeting, within their sphere of influence, their responsibility to respect human rights. They also undertake to implement and comply with appropriate measures as part of their company policy. UVEX SAFETY Textiles GmbH has signed the code and now conducts social audits of its key business partners based on the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct.

The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative of the United Nations that calls on companies and organisations to align their business practices with ten fundamental principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

Once a year, participating companies disclose how they implement the ten principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their practices in a Communication on Progress.

We are an official signatory to the UN Global Compact. In doing so, we are committed to fundamental values in the areas of responsible corporate governance, sustainability and social engagement.

CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states and regions. Founded in 2000 and working with more than 740 financial institutions with over $137 trillion in assets, CDP pioneered using capital markets and corporate procurement to motivate companies to disclose their environmental impacts, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources and protect forests. In 2024, over 26,000 organisations around the world disclosed data via the CDP, including around 25,000 companies and over 1,000 cities, states and regions. Fully TCFD aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy. CDP is a founding member of the Science Based Targets initiative, We Mean Business Coalition, The Investor Agenda and the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative.

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) promotes scientifically based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from companies in order to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C if possible. The initiative supports and monitors companies in their compliance with the emission reduction targets they have set. At uvex, we have set ourselves the goal of reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions across the group by 42% by 2030 (FY 22/23 as the base year). Absolute Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation and distribution and end-of-life treatment of sold products are also to be reduced by 25% over the same period. In 2025, we received validation of our targets from the SBTi. This validation underlines that the uvex group's climate targets are ambitious and in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
